Avis jumps the queues with a 60 second check-in system
Avis, the leading car rental company in Europe, launched a new 60 second car-side check-in system, as part of the ongoing investment in customer service, at over 150 major locations throughout Europe, managing some 3.5 million check-ins a year. This new initiative will radically improve, speed-up and personalise the service provided to customers at check-in.
This is the first step as part of a two-year programme to transform the way Avis manages customer service and will enable Avis to provide a car-side check-in service using a handheld wireless device, with a complete meet and greet service for customers returning their vehicles.
In just 60 seconds Avis employees will meet the customers by their car, record fuel and distance readings and check the car for damage, then provide an easy to understand simple receipt for the rental on the spot in the customer’s own language.
The system has been successfully piloted at several major locations, including Heathrow, Frankfurt and Lisbon. The roll-out included Athens airport in July 2004 and continues to all major European locations by the end of the year.
